Maken-Ki! Chapter 41 Raw

I know this is a few days late, but Happy New Year. To begin 2012 and the second year of Scans of the Dead, here is my first raw Maken-Ki! chapter. Hopefully it's the first of many.

I'm not exactly sure what's holding Hidoi up on their scanlation. They say they are short on cleaners, but it seems like too long of a long delay if that's the only problem. In any case, there are three more chapters (including the one in this month's issue of Dragon Age) out right now, and I will scan raws of those and any future chapters as long as Hidoi is behind on their scanlations. I will do minimal editing on Maken-Ki! for now, but when I begin releasing Triage X raws, I will do a more thorough editing job. I should have the first chapter posted on Tuesday or Wednesday of next week (Jan. 10 or 11).

I'm about to order this month's issue of Dragon Age, so now would be a good time to donate if you can. I would really appreciate it.

Dragon Age comes out on the 7th this month, so my update should come a bit earlier than usual. It will hopefully be a little less than a week from now. See you then.

Just a thought, but I believe that there will not be any new HotD until YenPlus catches up with the English releases this coming July. We might not see anything new until May/June.. =X Or the next issue, who knows

    Also, thanks for the Maken-Ki!

  2. I don't think the hiatus has anything to do with the English publication. I've never heard of a manga series going on hiatus for a translated version to catch up.

  4. Well, the opposite is happening in the states, shonen jump america plans on ending the paper magazine for a digital e-magazine with the intention of releasing at the same time as japan releases their magazine. Almost shuts down scanlations, sorta. I suppose shouji could put his cash cow on vacation giving the american release time to catch up, and time for shouji to work on triage x and his H. If the american release is put out within a month of the japanese release, it could also disallow scanlations, as the official work is already available. But hey, we dont know whats really going on, so we can just wait.

  5. I didn't know that about Shounen Jump US. It'll be interesting to see what MS does about this.

Still, the situation with HOTD is much different. I won't pretend to know a lot about the legal stuff, but I have a basic idea. Shounen Jump US is an affiliate of the Japanese magazine, and they're owned (or licensed) by the same Japanese company. Yen Plus is owned by Yen Press and has no affiliation with Monthly Dragon Age, and they have no publishing rights to the magazine's content. They only own the rights to translate and publish the volumes. Shouji Sato is only co-owner of the copyright with Daisuke Sato, and the publishing and distribution rights are owned by Fujimi Shobo and Kadokawa, so Shouji doesn't have the power to coordinate releases with any other companies. Anyway, Fujimi Shobo probably loses profits when a series like HOTD goes on hiatus, so doing it intentionally would be irresponsible. To my understanding and unless something changes, the next English release after Volume 7 will be Volume 8 after it has been released in Japan.
