Maken-Ki! Volume 9 c50

With Oppai-Scans, as usual. Unlike usual, this is a brand new chapter. Enjoy.

DDL

Unfortunately, this might be the last new chapter for about two months at least. Until then, you'll have high quality versions of the Volume 9 chapters we skipped over. Also Oppai is doing high quality versions of Blade Play right now.

See you tomorrow (probably) with my Dragon Age update and hopefully more information on the HOTD return.

  2. James S. here:

btw, Turambar, do you know if anybody is still managing the official hotd wiki site? The front page still displays no news about HOTD breaking out of the hiatus.

    1. When I officially left, there were two other active administrators. All I can say is, talk to Hammiams about changing it. I protected the page while I was there so only admins could edit it. Regular users should be able to edit the news page, though.

Dammit, I typed out a long comment but it got deleted because of the javascript that opens a reply box to other comments. Frick.

Anyway, I wanted to let you know that you have caught the attention of online manga reader sites. You and oppaiscans released Maken Ki 50 before any other scan group did so you're pn their radar.. Namely Mangareader, Mangainn, etc... So, this means more publicity but it's a lot more negative than positive. Allow me to explain. People that go to those damn online readers sites are leechers. Those people do not give a damn about the scanlators. With the exception of Mangapanda, which also doubles as a scan group. If they actually cared about scanlators, they would read on Batoto or on the scanlator's site. I'd say 8-9 times out of 10, the user interface on the scanlator's site and the reader are just worlds better than the crappy ones on places like mangareader.

You don't have to listen, but here's some advice. Keep releases a bit more on the downlow. If not, people are going to read your stuff on mangareader, then come here to ask for more timely releases. They will also eat up your bandwidth for your files. To prevent your stuff from getting out there, I'd suggest releasing only after a scan group does it. Manga leech sites usually just go for the first release.

I speak with some knowledge of a leecher problem because I come from an anime site with encoders that have to deal with this problem often. It gets so damn annoying that you just want to quit sometimes. I wouldn't want this to happen to you guys. I also did this because I remember expressing before that you DID NOT want your stuff on online readers.

I mean absolutely no disrespect at all. This is just some friendly advice to keep in mind.

And as a side note, true, I'd like to read HOTD when it come out again, but I think that you should just stagger releases until after some group does it. Otherwise, I guarantee that ungrateful leechers will come your way.

    1. I've had a problem with online readers for a long time now, and I knew this day would come. I always expected it to be when HOTD returned, but then I never expected to be releasing a new Maken-Ki! chapter first. I'm really not worried about it. I only deal with three series here, and I have no plans to add more.

This will likely be the last new MK chapter I am a part of, not including lending my raws to whoever scanlates it in the future (Kiss I guess). I would never even think of not releasing HOTD as soon as possible. I believe in giving people new chapters as soon after the original Japanese release as possible. Since HOTD is my highest priority and I don't do much else, and since I buy and scan my own raws, I think I am better suited to a quick release than any other group that might want to pick it up. Fans deserve to read the chapters without waiting weeks. If I have to upload on multiple sites to save bandwidth, then so be it.

Thanks for your advice, but I'm not going wait for another group to get around to new chapters. It goes against why I even have this site. I've been considering putting my stuff on Batoto. That may at least slow them down. If not, oh well. I'll find a way to deal with it.

    2. How about a flash viewer possibly? I'll email you a bunch of different ways that would slow down those guys that have online readers. That email on the side is correct, yes?

    3. Really, I'm not that concerned about it. If nothing else, at least more people can read the chapters I release. I don't want to be stingy, and I want to keep providing downloads. If it becomes a serious problem in the future, I'll do something then.

    1. The translator of the last four chapters will be unable to translate any new chapters for a couple of months, so yes the scanlation will take a break.

I probably won't do more than just provide raws for new chapters in the future. The scanlation will likely be done by Kiss Scans. With HOTD coming back, my priorities have changed.
