Maken-Ki! Kai!!

Here's a surprise for you Maken-Ki! fans. It's the first (only?) chapter of the prequel to the main series, taking place when Minori, Aki, and the other teachers were students at Tenbi.

This is a joint with Madman Scans. I was sitting on it for about a year waiting for someone to translate, so a special thanks to them for helping to finally get this released.

DDL
Batoto

I'm not really sure if there were any more Kai chapters released. There definitely haven't been any in Dragon Age, but I'm not sure about Age Premium. If anyone knows, let me know so we can hopefully scanlate the others.

By the way, since most of the groups I do joints with use Batoto, I've decided to give in and start officially using it. Maybe I can prevent some of those stupid kids from ravaging my work and uploading to other readers, or maybe not. In any case, it gives people another way to read the chapters I release that I can be happy with.

    1. Do you remember where it was? It's published in a digital magazine which is only available to Japanese residents, so I can't get raws myself.

    5. I actually found Japanese raws, so now it's just a matter of waiting until a translator at Madman is available.

    1. How could you improve the quality by cutting the size in half? You did not "improve" anything. You over-leveled and filtered it down to a blurry mess.

Please DO NOT edit and re-upload my chapters without permission.

    1. It's okay. Now you know.

Your version looked more like a traditional scanlation. If I wanted to, I could do that myself, but there are good reasons why I don't. The untrained eye sees my work as lower quality, but that's only because you have grown accustomed to what the big groups do, which I find insulting to the artists' works. The most important thing to me is preserving art.

  7. I entirely agree with you. (and it's easier fo me to read the kanjis with raws ^^)

  9. So, has Shoyji Sato started something new? http://mangabroadcast.jp/preview.php?cid=08000000HMSMPL3153A5

Maybe he doesn't have enough to do ....

    1. That's a new prequel (I think) to Fire Fire Fire. It looks like he will be releasing chapters of it irregularly whenever he has the time. It's free to read online, but I don't see any good way of obtaining raws I can work with at this time. Maybe XLG will pick it up, since they did the main series.

    2. Actually, this may be a sequel. It's been so long that I forgot a lot about the original series. I'll update when I find out more.

  10. Speedy_J here,

Shouji Sato released a June 1st entry to his diary. I noticed he released some sort of one-shot called "BLACK SWORD". It's in Japanese, but if you want to see it here's a link: http://mangabroadcast.jp/preview.php?cid=08000000HMSMPL3153A5

Perhaps the reason why we didn't get a Chapter 31?

looks like someone covered that for you.

    1. Yea, I noticed that this morning. Also curious is the spelling of Shoyji Sato's name in the new graphic on his web site.

    2. How did you get that image?

I went there and the last image posted up was still Saeko in her raincoat.

  12. I know, its like portions of his site are being cached somewhere. Yesterday I noticed in the side bar that he had updated it but couldn't find any evidence of it. Then this morning it was updated again according to the side bar, but still nothing new. Forced the browser to clear the cache and then the new image showed up. But Google Translate was still referencing the old page.

    1. I always refresh as soon as I load his site. For some reason, that's usually the only way to see the current version. The Fujimi Shobo site is the same way. Just get into a habit of refreshing anytime you go there.

  13. Interesting

I will like to add that on the final page of Fire Fire Fire: Black Sword is that a new chapter of what appears to be this prequel story will be posted on June 26th.

    2. I believe it's actually June 27th. In any case, this means he probably already wrote and drew a second chapter. In his diary, though, he said future releases may be irregular.

  14. According to a blog called Inazuma Kick, Shouji wanted to go back to Fire Fire Fire at some point...Looks like he that is what he will be doing.

    1. Which is why this is more likely a continuation than a prequel, as I originally thought. We'll know for sure if we see Jiga in the next chapter.

    2. Perhaps this is a combination of both? After reading Fire Fire Fire and looking through Black Sword once again, on the final page we see the woman with the hat stand behind a humanoid machine being built. That machine bears a VERY strong resemblance to Shishi-My, the Cyborg that could change limbs and had a girl inside of it.

    3. I'm pretty sure the girl is Fay and the cyborg is Shishimai (gringe of XLG says so, and he reads Japanese). It looks like the girl has been removed from Shishi and he is now broken or something. In the next chapter we may very well see Jiga with the girl we only ever glimpsed in the original series.
