Donation Drive: SOTD Needs Your Help!

UPDATE: Thanks to some very generous contributors (Tuan in particular) I met my goal for this month and almost met it for next month as well. I will now encourage you not to donate any more for at least another month or so. I'm all set for now. Thanks again!

Regular readers here know I don't do this a lot, but sometimes money is tight. Due to unforeseen personal expenses coming up, I've decided to give in and ask you guys to help me out on the next issue of Dragon Age. Just go to the top right and click Donate if you would like to help. As you will notice at the very top of the right sidebar, I have $20 of the roughly $55 I need to cover the next issue. If I could get the $35 more I need, that would help me out a lot.

Going over this month's goal is totally okay, so feel free to contribute to next month after the goal is reached. Money is generally short right now for me even without extra expenses, so the more months I can count entirely on donations, the better.

Oh and what do your donations contribute to? I'm glad you asked:
  • Raw scans of the latest Triage X and Maken-Ki! chapters and related materials.
  • Any available news and announcements regarding HOTD (there may not be any).
  • Ensures the next chapter of Necro;Chronicle is scanlated (by me and Madman) in a timely manner.
  • And of course your monthly update of whatever I feel like is important enough to talk about.
All donations will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

By the way, here's the second chapter of Black Sword, Shouji Sato's Fire Fire Fire sequel.

    1. I don't translate. That would be Shiratori at Madman Scans. The amount of editing I do varies each month, but I do purchase and scan the raws. That is why the donations are so important.

    3. It was gringe that did the last one over on the Shouji Sato fan club at MyAnimeList.net

Since I don't read Japanese and don't know much about the series, I'm not going to even attempt a summary. Try asking gringe.

    4. the cover of triage x vol. 7 has been revealed. those twins are on it. speaking of twins, do they have any names?

    5. I'm sure they have names, but no chapter with them has been translated, so I don't know what they are.

  2. So I'm sure you've heard about the H.O.T.D. Pachi slot game that was released earlier last month. It turns out a Playstation Vita port will be releasted in October 10th

    1. Yes, I've heard about the pachislot and the Vita adaptation. I don't have a Vita, so someone will have to get the game and tell me how it is.

  4. witch group is doing the scans and trans for triage X past chapter 20 since you dont. i checked the other groups you have listed and none of them have any scans or trans for any chapter beyond 20. you are the only one still scaning raws for it but not translating them. i would donate 20.00 usd a month if only if you can hire a translater to do some translating for the series asap. but you dont seam to want to hire anyone to help and just want to drop triage x completely. whats the point of even scaning it then. I dont read Jap so i need English Trans for it.

    1. The number of translators willing to work on a licensed series is limited. It's not as easy as you seem to think, so don't assume it is. I don't have time to monitor boards all day to be the first to offer translators a job. I have a real life and a real career. If you're not happy with what I'm doing, by all means start your own group, hunt for a willing translator, and do it yourself. You are welcome to use my scans.

  5. Hey Turambar, I've recently been getting a lot of heat about HOTD said to be returning early 2014 from the words of Daisuke Sato, they gave a link to Wikipedia (Spanish). While normally I would have considered this good news I'm a bit skeptical, I couldn't find any other news feeds confirming this. So I was hoping you could keep an eye for this, since you tend to be better at finding this stuff than I am.

    1. I'm pretty confident this is absolutely false. For one thing, they give the date as January 4th, when Dragon Age has been released on the 9th (occasionally the 8th) of each month since it has existed. I can't see why they would change that.

I also can't see why they would announce a specific date this far in advance. We may get an announcement as soon as two months before, with a specific date coming a month before, just like with c30. Plus I don't think it would be Daisuke, but rather Fujimi Shobo announcing it.

Finally, if someone posts something like that on Wikipedia without a source, there is no reason to believe it. If that was on the English version, it would have already been removed. I guess the Spanish version isn't monitored as closely.

    2. Ah alrighty then, I didn't know about the Dragon age monthly on the 9th thing... (maybe I should pay more attention to your monthly updates...) that will be useful to help out when dealing with this. Also I was looking at the Wikipedia page and noticed the no source, which like you said makes it hard to believe though I figured I'd ask you before I completely dismissing this as false.

    3. I'm glad to have helped. I have a feeling, though, that this will be just like when someone posted on Wikipedia that the anime would return in September 2011 and everyone believed it. It's funny how people will take something without a source as fact and then refuse to believe rational reasons for it not to be true.

    4. I've had a few people tell me about this prior to this time, but before I couldn't find anything due to not being informed that it said it on the Spanish version. Though an absolute refusal didn't seem to be the case this time (THANK GOD), the guy who sent it in was very understanding when I told him that it was being dismissed as speculation or just flat out trolling.

The only thing that I know is official news for HOTD right now is a Dub for the OVA coming out soon, which people seem to not give a damn about. I'm personally excited for that, for some reason I can't watch HOTD subbed even though it's better acted. Oh well...

Anyways, thanks for helping out and if I get any more iffy news I'm sure you know who I'm asking first.

    5. Maybe people have seen so many false leads and rumors that were later proven to be wrong that they listen to reason now.

I personally can't stand dubbed anime (or dubbed anything), so I don't pay much attention to English dub news.

Come to me any time with something you're unsure of. I'm always happy to address the latest rumors. It's the thing I miss most since leaving the HOTD Wiki.

    1. You have to refresh your browser. If that doesn't work, try using a different browser (Firefox or Chrome if you're not already using one).

He just talks about Volume 7 of Triage X and the HOTD pachi slot game. Not too interesting.

  8. there was also an update from Shouji's INAZUMA page.
